▶ Femme name: Jenny London
▶ Location: London, UK
▶ How long you have been crossdressing: Like most of us, I started as a kid, “borrowing” items from my mother and sister. But I suppose the most meaningful milestone would be when I started buying my own clothes, makeup, wigs, etc. That was about 18 years ago now.
▶ Say something about your crossdressing experience: I am mainly “in the closet”, apart from a very small circle of friends. I went to school in a shitty small town, in an era where transvestism was still seen as a joke, and “gay” was the school playground insult of choice. This almost certainly contributed to my decision to keep it to myself, safely compartmentalized away. Over time, I gradually became a bit more confident and started enjoying getting out and about as Jenny. I am not paranoid about being recognized, but I keep it discreet.
▶ Reason you crossdress: For many years, I was convinced it was purely a fetish. This was probably partly a coping mechanism (to convince myself I was “normal”), but it is true that I was turned on by lingerie, and silky/lacy fabrics from quite a young age. I suppose I was just obsessed with all things feminine. The more I did it, the more I enjoyed it. But the nature of that enjoyment started to change, and I found that I really started to love exploring this alter ego than eventually became “Jenny”.
And also… I realized that I actually looked pretty good! Those skinny arms and legs that I hated so much as a teenager were now an asset. As a guy I rarely get compliments about my looks.. I wear boring clothes and blend into the crowd. But as Jenny I can take pride in my appearance, express my sexuality, and have fun experimenting with different looks.
▶ Things you like doing after dressing up: Where to start?!! I enjoy opening a bottle of wine and trying on different outfits, and taking photos. I like socializing with other girls, I enjoy eating out and drinking (mainly in Soho), and also clubbing – I’ve been going to The Wayout Club for many years. And I have a few gentleman friends who I like going out with for dinner and cocktails, before heading back to their hotel!
