It's tough being in the closet and yet yearning for more. That was me for 30+ years. And I STILL "choose my battles." But I do go out fully en femme when I'm in the mood. You'll find WHEN you muster the courage to go out that it will be exhilarating. Do so by choosing a place where interaction with people is at a minimum. Good places to go can be department stores. You don't have to purchase anything. Just go to look and enjoy being out as that inner woman desires. For added security take a spare set of clothes in the event of car trouble or other. I cross dress because I love the styles, fabrics and variety of women's clothing. Men's clothes, in a word, just suck. So very boring (and predictable). Your comment about the things you cannot do without is interesting. I do NOT wear shape wear only because it adds even more bulk to my outfits, adding an additional size. It also shows though most of the clothing. I LOVE that green dress you're wearing. Gorgeous. Good luck in your journey. cw

I've been dressing since I was about 10 yrs old (58 now). I initially just put on my mum's tights & panties after stealing them!
I used to go to my gran's house to put them on when she would go to the bingo every Friday night for a couple of hours.
I would put on some of gran's dresses too. Then Panstick foundation & lipstick to wear for about an hour or so.
As the only safe place was my gran's house, I was limited to what I could wear.
When I was about 19, she sadly died. That was the end of that (although I think she knew what I did but never said anything).
I had just started going out with a girl for about a year. One day, she asked what would make me happy. I plucked up the courage to mention the tights & make up.
I was worried that she would think I'm a weirdo but to my surprise, she actually said it was OK by her!
She then let me try on her clothes, make up & shoes (we are both same size by coincidence).
Been together for 40 yrs now & she has always encouraged me to embrace who I am.
I have a large collection of everything I need to dress.
Most of it bought by her as she loves to see the different styles I can come up with.
She is the only one who knows.
Our son has no clue that this has been going on for all this time!!
